Meet Adelaide Stylist Zena from Minutiae of Style

The challenge was set for Zena to style some of Adorn Collection’s most popular bags… but before we explore what she came up with I asked her a little bit about how she started styling and what the future holds for Minutiae of Style…

Tell us all a bit about yourself. How did you start Styling?

Hi there BEAUTIFUL LADIES! If you don’t know me, my name is Zena, and I work as Fashion Stylist here in Adelaide. I also run an Instagram account @minutiae_of_style where I love to inspire you all!

I had always had a strong interest in fashion and used to love putting outfits together. Even at the age of 14/ 15 I would go out to brunch on the weekend or even grocery shopping with my mum and experiment with my outfits. Whilst at school, I started to undertake work experience in fashion, and flew to Melbourne to the ‘Melbourne Spring Fashion Week’ to volunteer backstage. This is when I knew this was for me!

After more experience, in my second year of Uni where I studied Business Management, I started to freelance style part-time at the same time as studying. I was lucky to work on some great jobs such as the Melbourne Hair Expo and work with some amazing people who taught me a lot.

At the start of 2017 once I had completed Uni, I launched into Styling full-time and started my Instagram account. Since then I have been able to style some amazing photo shoots, runways and work with so many amazing people from Adelaide and the rest of Australia. I now get to work with amazing companies such as Rundle Mall, Girl About Town, and the Queen of Style – ‘Mirella’ from the Sunday Mail.

A lot of people ask what I do, so here’s a breakdown…I style photo shoots for agencies, magazines etc. I also style runways along side some fabulous stylists, I create my Instagram content, running my own account.

Tell us about your personal style…

I love to be creative with my outfits! I would describe my style as ‘edgy yet elegant’, bold and fun! I love to layer! My style is unique e.g. I love to wear dresses with sneakers and wear statement shirts under camisoles.

What are your favourite Brands?

Faithfull the Brand, Celine, Acler, Bec & Bridge, Tony Bianco, Nakedvice, Steele, Tigerlilly, CMEO COLLECTIVE, Alice McCall, Cinquante and Spell – just to name a few!

Where are your favourite places to shop in Adelaide?

Adorn Collection! FSHN BNKR, Birdcage Boutique Harvey the Label, Ginger Frank, Born in August & David Jones – for designer brands. Too many to choose from!

What do you love pairing with a designer handbag?

I believe a designer bag or belt can be paired with anything! These are just a few of my favourite combinations!

A cool branded tee or band tee paired with denim.
A beautiful Bec & Bridge Slip Dress.
A cute dress layered with a statement top, paired with sneakers.

What are your plans for 2019?

I can’t say too much but definitely KEEP AN EYE OUT! I’ll hopefully be introducing video footage e.g. style tutorials, creating more inspo for you all, involving my self in fashion festivals, working on lots of photo shoots, runways and TRAVELLING OVERSEAS!
