Winter is coming… ❄️

 And with it, the Winter series of Millinery Workshops .

 Across May to September, I’ll be running a limited run of small, hands-on workshops focused on craftsmanship, detail, and creating something truly special.

 This is your season to slow down, explore and make.

1a. Felt pillboxes and buttons – Sat 2nd MAY 10am – 2pm 
Work with stiffeners – PVA and Chemical
Blocking with pins/cord
Steaming and shaping
Wiring
Basic felt decoration/trims

1b. Linings and basic trims – Sun 17th MAY 10am-1pm
Bring a pre-blocked button or pill box (created in workshop #1a)
Measure, cut fabric and ribbon
Sew lining into base
Stitch in combs and elastic
Create various trims to finish your base (crinoline, quills, ribbon cockades)

 2a. Fosshape and Leather bases – Sat 30th MAY 10am – 2pm
Pin and block fosshape (thermoplastic)
Block leather
Stiffen fosshape
Create leather details (feathers and motifs)
Cover and finish base with leather

2b. Leather flowers and leaves – Sat 13th JUNE 10am-1pm
Cut, stiffen, shape (cold and hot) using tools, construct flowers and leaves from leather

3. Wire frames – Sun JUNE 28th 10am – 2pm
Create a unique shape without a hat block.
Construct and cover a wire frame in the shape of a pillbox or headband/swirl.

4. Parisisal boater/halo – Sat JULY 11th10am – 2pm
Block, stiffen and finish a boater (or halo) made from parisisal straw.

5a. Sinamay blocking and basics – Sun 26th JULY 10am – 2pm
Block sinamay pillbox or button (or a top and bottom for a percher for use in workshop #5b)
Use stiffener and tools
Create various sinamay bias strips and other trims (leaves, roses etc).

5b. Sinamay perchers– Sat 8th AUGUST 10am – 2pm
Finish the blocked piece created in workshop #5a
Create a percher headband
Securing in a base and tricks for creating stability
Stitching together

6. Feather flowers and shapes – Sun 23rd AUGUST 10am-1pm
Cut, colour, shape, mount and secure feathers for use in trims and flowers.

 7. Sinamay brims and swirls – Sat 5th SEPTEMBER 10am – 2pm
Block a dish or boater shape in one piece
Sew and finish brim edges
Create sinamay bias swirls
